As a graduating senior I was tasked with choosing a designer and creating an essay collection to showcase their work with typography. Cipe Pineles (pronounced SEE-pee pi-NELL-iss) was pivotal in the recognition of teen girls and working women as a legitimate demographic. She helped pilot the success of both Seventeen and Charm magazines. She was forever practical and always open-minded with a respect and clarity that resonated through all her designs. My final piece included a die cut name on the cover, folding pages, and patterns I created from Cipe’s various fashion and logo illustrations. I remain immensely proud of this bold and snazzy little book.
